Read: Psalm 9:13–20

The Psalmist illustrates how evident the Lord’s sovereignty is in the lives of the righteous and the wicked. Like him, we recognize that the Lord saves the believers from trouble caused by their evil persecutors. We have the Psalmist’s confidence that the needy and the poor will be provided for and will never be disappointed. The wicked and nations that don’t acknowledge the Lord and His works will realize His greatness through the punishment He will impose. The Lord prevails over the righteous and the wicked. Indeed, no human power can triumph over His authority.

Thoughts to ponder

Those who engage in unrighteousness set traps for themselves, which leaves them fallen and devastated. However, there is always hope for transformation because the call for repentance and submission to God is consistently available. In connection with this, believers could be channels of God’s grace through their testimonies of the provision and protection that the Lord granted them.

“For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16)

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

Prayer

Our Lord and God, we are grateful for the mercy You grant those who trust in You. We declare your sovereignty over all creation. We claim Your power and strength so we can fulfill the purpose You have set for us. Amen.
