Read: Mark 4:26-34

The community of faith started like a mustard seed when God’s word was planted in a person’s heart. As faith grew stronger, the word flourished, and perceptions of God’s will became evident. The word spread and was planted in many people’s hearts. Its fruit manifested in the knowledge of things divine and eternal and demonstrated in the transformation of lives. As more people were added to the blessed ones who received God’s word, they became like one big tree and formed His community of faith. To take it positively, this community could be a refuge for those whose spirits are broken and need to find peace and joy in God.

Food for thought

Simplicity or smallness of service for the Lord should not be underestimated, for out of it comes greatness. Believers should not get tired or discouraged when their works in God’s vineyard seem not to bear fruit because they will at God’s appointed time. Anything done out of love for Him will be blessed.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.ā€ (Matthew 13:31-32)

“God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised thingsā€”and the things that are notā€”to nullify the things that are. ” (1 Corinthians 1:28)

Prayer

Our God and Lord, we are grateful for Your word that You planted and grew in our hearts. Thank you for gathering us together to form your community of faith. Grant us more grace so we will remain strong as Your people in the midst of powers that seek to dethrone You in our hearts. By your Spirit, let us be consistently victorious over the flesh. Amen.
