Read: Mark 5:25-34

Multitudes of people formed great crowds wherever Jesus went at the time, He was still doing ministerial work. His ministerial power reached even a sick woman who was not able to ask for help from Him because of the crowd. She was afflicted with a blood-flowing disease for 12 years. She had used all her resources to pay physicians who were not able to heal her. Desperation is usually the expected outcome of this hopeless situation. The woman could have risked taking what she thought was the last resort, even repeatedly. But when she heard about Jesus, she firmly believed that if she touched His clothes, she would be healed, and she was when she did. Jesus felt the power that had gone out of Him and asked who touched His clothes. In fear, the woman came and told Him the truth. Jesus declared that her faith made her well.

Food for thought

Recognizing a specific person in a crowd is not an impossible feat for Jesus. What surprised His disciples (and probably. the readers as well) was His inquiry into the identity of the one who touched His clothes. What could be his reason for doing so?

“And no creature is hidden from His sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13)

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalm 139:16)

Prayer

Our God and Lord, you have known us even before we were born. We are grateful for your sustenance and provision. Grant us good health and protection from all forms of harm. Strengthen us. I’m facing challenges to our faith. Amen.
