Read: Mark 5:21-25, 35-43

The healing power of Jesus was known by leaps and bounds, and multitudes came to Him for physical and spiritual healing. In this passage, Mark narrates that a synagogue’s leader, Jairus, came to Jesus and pleaded with Him to heal his ailing daughter in his home. The people’s wailing didn’t bother Jesus because He could bring her back to life. He held her hand and told her to get up, and she did.

Food for thought

Unanswered prayers for healing and other requests should not deter believers from trusting that God’s power is never diminished. It is noteworthy to.always remember that it is not only the body that needs healing but the soul and spirit. This passage also shows that Jesus has authority over things He wants to keep or disclose, just like He commanded not to let this healing be made known.

“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14)

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
