Read: Mark 4:21-25

God’s word is the light that must be shared to liberate captives of spiritual darkness. It makes the spiritual blind see. It enlightens the wayward to be directed to the right path. God’s light exposes falsehood and brings concealed wickedness to the surface. Believers must take the word of God with fervent attention to practice it and broaden its reach. There is accountability for having knowledge of God’s word because one must live by what he knows. “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Luke 12:48b). For those who obey God, more revelation is given to them. The opposite happens to those who don’t obey.

Thoughts to ponder

Here, the sacredness of God’s light and the nobility of what it does are highlighted. The theme of accountability is also significantly touched upon.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path…The unfolding of Your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.” (Psalm. 119:105, 130)

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Prayer

Our Lord and God, You saved and enlightened us by the light of Your word. We pray for understanding of more revelations from Your word. By Your grace, help us to reach into deep recesses of the Scriptures. Strengthen us to overcome our weaknesses so we can put into practice what we learned from you. Empower us to share Your light that saved and enlightened us. Amen.
