Read: 1 Samuel 17:32-51

The Israelites and Philistines were to engage in a battle with each other. A champion of the Philistines, Goliath, challenged anyone from Israel for face-to-face combat. Saul, the king at the time, was reluctant to allow David, a young shepherd, to fight the Philistines seasoned warrior, Goliath. The shepherd recounted that the Lord saved him from predatory animals while he was working as a shepherd. Unfazed, he declared that the Lord would save his people and deliver Goliath into his hands. Finally, he killed Goliath and saved his people.

Thoughts to ponder

The Lord honors those who fervently trust Him with blessing and victory over their unfavorable circumstances. There might be difficult depressing situations they encounter during their faith journey, but in the end unending trust in the Lord pays.

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. ” (1 John 5:4)
