Read: 2 Corinthians 5:1-10

The earthly body of every believer dies and decomposes, but when physical life ends, there is assurance that an immortal body will replace the earthly one. God’s children desire and look forward to being clothed with an eternal body because there will be no more death. The new body of every believer is enfolded in holiness, which befits the sacredness and purity of God’s kingdom.

Thoughts to ponder

There are three important spiritual truths that could be taken from this passage. First, God prepares us for eternal life with Him by giving us His Spirit. Second, while in the physical body, we must walk by faith, not by sight, meaning loving, trusting, and obeying God in the midst of suffering in this world. Third, we must fulfill God’s purpose and be sure we will be judged according to the work we do. To conclude, we are commanded to live in obedience to God.

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:5)

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)

Prayer

Our Lord and God, we rejoice in looking forward to having immortal bodies. Through Your Spirit, let us discern the preparation for eternity You are doing in our lives. Help us to accomplish the works for the fulfillment of Your will. Amen.
